School and campus security is built around ground access. Gates, ticketing, bag policy, post assignments, resource officers. None of it looks up. When a drone appears over a full stadium, most command posts find out because someone in the stands is pointing at it. Rules and posted policies do not produce a detection. Nothing in a standard event plan tells you an aircraft is overhead, what it is, or where the operator is standing.
The gap runs well past athletics. Commencement, homecoming, arrival and dismissal, visiting officials, and demonstrations all put people outside in open space on a published schedule. Aerial survey of a building or grounds ahead of a planned act belongs on the same list, and it is the reason school safety directors ask about this at all.
Deployments scale to the institution. A mobile capability that covers six home games across a district is a different purchase than persistent coverage over a university campus, and both are supported. Not every layer is available to every department.
RF-based detection, identification, and tracking of commercial drone platforms, including activity that does not broadcast Remote ID. Mobile configurations deploy for game day, graduation, or a visiting speaker and pack down after, which lets one unit cover every school in a district across a season. Fixed configurations run persistently over a stadium, a medical center, or a central plant. Detections carry a time and a track your command post can act on while the event is still in progress.

Event security fails at the seams between systems more often than it fails at any one of them, and a shared picture is what keeps athletics, police, and emergency management working from the same information during an incident.
A drone over a stadium is an incident on game day and an investigation on Monday. Sworn campus and school district police departments carry detections forward into the same investigative capability used by municipal and county agencies, under their own authority and policy. Institutions without sworn officers use the layers above and hand follow-up to the local agency that already responds to their calls.
Airspace coverage gets used by more departments than it gets bought by. Deployments are scoped so police, athletics, and safety leadership each get what they need from the same system, whether that is one university or a district covering a dozen schools.
